To remove old markings on Satpayev Street in Almaty, foreign specialists were brought in 

Following redevelopment and the creation of a new public space near Republic Square in Almaty, traffic patterns changed on a section of Satpayev Street. However, the old markings remained, drivers became confused, and the risk of road traffic accidents emerged. The issue was raised by city council deputy Olga Spirina, reports Kazinform.

Her inquiry was addressed by the Head of the Department of Traffic Management and Passenger Transport, Yerzhan Dikhanbayev. According to him, removal work for the old markings has already been scheduled. Complications arose… due to the high quality of the old markings—they could not be removed mechanically. Attempting to do so created a risk of damaging the asphalt. Therefore, it became necessary to call in foreign specialists.  A Belarusian company, one of the leaders in the road marking sector across the CIS, is set to remove the old markings using a specialized hydro-blasting machine, washing them off with high-pressure water. 

Work was planned to be completed by 9 August.
